The Way You Do Montage
I've been blending lately and have a few songs I'm using in fan videos. Here's one I finished today. The song is "The Way You Do" by 98 Degrees, and the song clip at the end is "Crashed" by Daughtry (remixed by Decoy). And once again, it features Rihanna and Shane West, the celebrities I personally envision as Max and Terry in the story. There's also some fanart in there by me. :)
Do enjoy! (Sorry for the slightly poor quality. It always looks and sounds different on Blogger than in Windows Media Player.)

Terry and Chelsea

Enter Butterfly Wings...
So my friend (co-author to this blog) has been writing a fanfiction called Butterfly Wings: A Chelsea Story. What I love about it is the depth she's added to Chelsea's character. She also wrote a deeper and even darker Max in She Only Steals Diamonds, which involved a new Catwoman. In Butterfly Wings, she took the original storyline of Terry/Dana relationship drama and made the switch with Chelsea. Instead of it focusing as usual on Terry or Dana's take of their relationship falling apart, it focuses on Chelsea at first just trying to help her friend Dana and ending up further befriending Terry and falling for him.
Also, she gave Chelsea's character more personality than the show wrote for her, which is something I also tried to do with GA. I didn't want to leave Max as ONLY a brainy person who was actually pretty annoying in her quest to become Batman's assistant. I took what I was given and added some other personality sparks and investigated her past. In Butterfly Wings, Chelsea's not just a popular girl at school with a rich, distant father - and Dana's best friend. She's creative, a closet fashion designer, and she has her own world in her passion of which no one knows (from the beginning, at least). And I think that Butterfly Wings takes the beautiful process of blossoming and captures each stage in snapshots. Not just the blossoming of a friendship and romance, but a blossoming of the individual heart and opening of oneself - like a flower, like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.
We need more of Chelsea and Terry together. We need more of this digging deeper into the characters. When you google "Terry McGinnis Chelsea Cunningham," Butterfly Wings is the 9th result - the 3rd result when you google "Terry McGinnis Chelsea." Speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Scooped
"Wild Horses" Songfic
Song: “Wild Horses” Natasha Bedingfield
Story: Guardian Angel, Part One
Characters: Maxine Gibson and Terry McGinnis
Listen to the song while reading, on playlist.com or youtube.
I feel these four walls closing in
Face up against the glass
I'm looking out, mmm
Is this my life I'm wondering
It happened so fast
How do I turn this thing around
Is this the bed I chose to make
There's greener pastures I'm thinking about, mmm
Wide open spaces far away
She wasn’t a fool, whatever everyone else thought. She knew her own feelings. She didn’t tell anyone about them, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t feel. She felt every time she looked into his icy blue eyes. But she was best friends with both of them, and though he tried to break in and free her, she chose not to let him.
All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear but not feel scared
Thought it was what she wanted. To be able to stop hiding the feelings she knew so well… To have them returned like she knew he was willing to. Somehow, it was harder knowing that her imprisonment was her own making.
Wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I'll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love like I'm longing to
I wanna run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses, oh
There was more that she wanted, too. It wasn’t just Terry. It was a whole life…a whole life that was different from hers. And that life looked a lot like Terry’s, though he complained about it so much. She fantasized about the wind ruffling her short hair as she flew over the cityscape. She wouln’t be afraid of the heights, or of the danger, she knew she wouldn’t be. Nothing could be scarier than this silence.
I see the girl I wanna be
Riding bareback, carefree
Along the shore
If only that someone was me
Jumping head first, head-long
Without a thought
To act and damn the consequence
How I wish it could be that easy
But fear surrounds me like a fence
I wanna break free
Living an adventure… That would be enough for her, if she could not have him. She could always run off somewhere, oh how she wished for a change. An alternate identity. To not be known, and at the same time, to be known more than she was known now, as herself.
All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear, but not feel scared
Yet he DID know her now. And that was what was so scary.
Oooh, wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I'll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love like I'm longing to
Wanna run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses, oh
She felt she was wrong with whichever choice she made. To accept him or to continue to reject him. All she could do was to push it from her mind: to ignore it.
I wanna run too
Oooh oh oh oh
Recklessly abandoning myself before you
I wanna open up my heart
Tell him how I feel
It was childish, but she could forget it when she dreamed of escape, somehow…
Oooh, wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I'll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love like I'm longing to
I wanna run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses
Maxine gently set down her lipstick on the bathroom counter and looked at herself in the mirror for a long time.
Whoah ooohh ooh ooh ye-yeah yeah oohh
I wanna run with the wild horses, ooooh
